    Inclusionary Zoning (IZ) Orientation: Introduction to the IZ Program for buyers and renters in the District of Columbia!

     

    Interested in buying a home but don’t know if you can?

    This orientation provides an introduction to the IZ program that the District of Columbia designed for income eligible households to purchase or rent at below market prices in DC.  Inclusionary Zoning is a law that requires developers to set aside a certain number of units for low-to moderate- income households. Find out what you qualify for and learn about next steps in the home buying process. Take this first step on the road to homeownership - free of charge.

  • Entrenamiento para Compradores de Casa - MD (Español)

    ¿Interesado en comprar su primera casa en DC o Maryland?

    Esta clase se provee en Español en la Oficina de MD para tomar la clase en ingles favor de inscribirse en la clase de D.C. 

    En este taller aprenderá como navegar el proceso de comprar una casa en DC y Maryland y como obtener una buena hipoteca. También aprenderá como su historial de crédito, presupuesto personal, y finanzas personales podrían afectar su éxito en el futuro. LEDC invita a diferentes expertos incluyendo un oficial de préstamo, inspector de vivienda, agente de bienes raíces, y agente de seguro para explicarle las diferentes áreas dentro del proceso de compra de casa. También se provee información sobre los programas para asistir compradores de casa por primera vez en MD y DC.

    Esta clase es conforme con los requisitos de los programas de prestamistas y el gobierno que requieren entrenamiento para compradores de casa por primera vez.


    Se ofrece desayuno y  almuerzo ligero en la clase cortesía de los expertos. 

    Precio: $50 para una persona o $75 por una pareja. Para clientes que usan el programa de My Home (MD), el programa les reembolse el costo de la clase. Becas están disponibles para todos los clientes de HPAP.  Algunos bancos también ofrecen becas.  Si Ud. está trabajando con un prestamista que requiere educación para compradores de casa por primera vez, es probable que pagaran por la clase.

He continues to be involved in several leadership initiatives and is active in non-violence initiatives in the US and abroad.

  • Homebuyer Training - DC (English)

    Interested in buying your first home? 

    This class is given in English from our DC office. To take the class in Spanish, please register for a class at our MD office.  

    In this group workshop you will learn how to successfully navigate each step of the home-buying process in DC or Maryland and obtain a smart mortgage. You will also learn how your credit, personal budgeting, and personal finances impact your future success. LEDC invites a host of speakers --among them a loan officer, real estate agent, insurance agent, and home inspector - to provide an instructional walk-through of the homeownership process. Information will also be provided on programs to assist first-time homebuyers in DC and MD.  
    This training meets the requirements for lender and government programs that require first time homebuyer training. This is also a great class for people who do not qualify for assistance through the DC Home Purchase Assistance Program (HPAP). 
    (If you are a DC resident and are interested in learning whether you may qualify for HPAP assistance, sign up first for the “Orientation to First-time Home Buying and the Programs that can Help.”)

    Light breakfast and lunch are provided courtesy of the speakers.  

    We do not provide childcare please make the proper arrangements.

In DC the Home Purchase Assistance Program (HPAP) provides up to $84,000 in down payment and closing costs assistance. Find out what you qualify for and learn about next steps in the homebuying process. Take this first step on the road to homeownership - free of charge.

     

    SATURDAYS: The orientation in English takes place from 9:00 am-10:30 am. The orientation in Spanish will take place from 11:30 am-1 pm. 

    TUESDAYS: The orientation in English takes place from 9:30 am-11:00 am. The orientation in Spanish takes place from 11:30 am-1 pm.
